Edit PDF Metadata
Change the title, author, subject and keywords of a PDF, or remove hidden information such as the author name, apps used and creation date. Your file is never uploaded.
Your files never leave this device. Everything is processed inside your browser and nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to use the Edit PDF Metadata tool
- Click "Choose PDF file" or drag a PDF onto the screen.
- The current title, author, subject and keywords appear in the fields. Edit what you want to change. Leave a field empty to remove it.

- Click "Save", then "Download" when it is done.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Files are processed only inside your browser and are never sent to any server. Only the code and character mapping data needed for processing are downloaded from this site; your files themselves never leave your device. You can check this yourself in the Network tab of your browser's developer tools.
Are my files safe even with ads on the page?
Yes. Ads only run outside the tool area. The tool area, where you choose and process files, is an isolated space your browser keeps separate, so other scripts on the page, including ads, cannot read your file content or file names. Nothing inside the tool area can be sent out. When you drag a file onto the page, the tool area expands to fill the screen so the isolated space receives the file.
Where does document info show up?
In the "Document properties" of PDF viewers, and sometimes as the title of the browser tab. Search engines may show the title too, so give PDFs you publish on a website a proper title.
Why remove hidden information?
PDFs often contain the author name, company name, apps used, and creation and modification dates. Since this is not in the body text, it is easy to send without noticing. Remove it with "Remove all document info" before sending documents outside.
Does the content change?
No. Only the document info changes; the pages stay as they are. To remove names or numbers from the pages, use "Redact PDF". However, the file is rewritten when saved, so a digitally signed PDF loses its valid signature ("Remove all document info" also removes the signature information; a signature drawn visibly on the page stays).
Does it remove the location from photos in the PDF?
Yes. With "Remove all document info", it removes shooting details stored in JPEG photos (location, camera, time and other EXIF data) and photo descriptions (XMP, IPTC). Photos are not recompressed, so the quality stays the same. Information inside JPEG 2000 photos, small images written directly into page content, JPEGs wrapped in another compression (rare), and attached files is not changed.
Is anything left after removing everything?
What the file needs to open and work is kept. Attachment names and descriptions, paths written in links to other files, information inside XFA forms, and a signature drawn visibly in a signature field (showing a name and date) are page content or needed by the file, so they stay. If these must go too, redact those pages with "Redact PDF" or remove the attachments before sending.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Yes. Enter the password to open it and edit the document info. The saved file no longer has the password or print/copy restrictions (the tool tells you this too). If you need protection, add it again with "Protect PDF" after saving.
Another app still shows the old title.
PDFs can store document info in two places (Info and XMP). This tool removes the XMP copy so no old value is left and writes to Info. If an app still shows the old title, it may be showing the file name or its own history. Copyright details and the PDF/A marker that live only in XMP are removed too, so keep the original if it is an archival PDF/A file.
