Add Page Numbers
Add page numbers to every page of a PDF, in the position and style you choose. Everything happens inside your browser.
Your files never leave this device. Everything is processed inside your browser and nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to use the Add Page Numbers tool
- Click "Choose PDF file" or drag the PDF you want to number onto the screen.
- Choose the position ("Bottom center", "Bottom right" or "Top right") and the style ("1", "1 / 10" or "- 1 -").
- Enter the number for the first page in "Start at". The label under each page in the grid shows the number it will get.
- Click "Add page numbers", then click "Download" when it is done.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Files are processed only inside your browser and are never sent to any server. Only the code and character mapping data needed for processing are downloaded from this site; your files themselves never leave your device. You can check this yourself in the Network tab of your browser's developer tools.
Are my files safe even with ads on the page?
Yes. Ads only run outside the tool area. The tool area, where you choose and process files, is an isolated space your browser keeps separate, so other scripts on the page, including ads, cannot read your file content or file names. Nothing inside the tool area can be sent out. When you drag a file onto the page, the tool area expands to fill the screen so the isolated space receives the file.
I do not want a number on the cover.
Use "Split PDF" to separate the cover from the rest, add numbers to the rest only, then put them back together with "Merge PDF". To start the body at 2, enter 2 in "Start at".
Do numbers appear upright on rotated pages?
Yes. Even on rotated pages, numbers are placed upright at the top or bottom as the page appears on screen.
Does the original content or quality change?
No. Only the number text is added on top of each page. Text and images stay as they were.
